The Thunderbolt boasts of being the first 4G LTE smartphone on Verizon Wireless - the second largest mobile telecommunications network in the United States (basically, 4G LTE is the latest standard in the mobile network technology.). Armed with Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system, the thunderbolt is basically a CDMA variant of HTC Desire HD. It sports a 4.3 inch WVGA TFT capacitive touch screen and has a powerful 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU on board it. In terms of memory and storage, it boasts of 768MB RAM and 8GB flash memory, which can be expanded to 32GB. The phone has two cameras - 8 megapixel camera at the rear and a 1.2 megapixel camera in front. All these features make Thunderbolt one of the most anticipated upcoming Verizon phone 2011, and that explains why everybody is more than eager to know when will HTC Thunderbolt be released.

HTC Thunderbolt Release Date and Price

Rumors about the release date and price of this HTC smartphone is plenty. Initially it was believed that the Thunderbolt will be released on 14th February. While that didn't actually happen, some sources said that the release date has been postponed to 21st February, and then again to 24th February - which again didn't really happen. Other than these three, several other dates were also in the fray, but every single date turned out to be a hoax call. That, however, hasn't helped much as people continue to speculate the release date/s for this much anticipated device even today - the closest one being 28th February, 2011. Again there is no concrete evidence for us to speculate that this date won't change.

Yet another date which is rumored to mark the debut of Thunderbolt in the tech arena is 4th March, 2011. But again, the source which has suggested that HTC smartphone is scheduled for release on this date has (by mistake may be) suggested that it would be released on Thursday, 4th March, 2011. (However, the speculated day is actually Friday - and not Thursday, which again makes us look at this date with suspicion.) So the chances are that even this might end up being another of those 'speculations' on when the HTC Thunderbolt release date is scheduled for - which is destined to end up as a hoax call.

Some sources have also suggested that the release date of Thunderbolt has been postponed to make sure that it doesn't clash with the recently launched iPhone 4G which also happens to be on Verizon Wireless network. They further suggest that the Thunderbolt is all set to release on 10th March, 2011, - which is exactly after a month of Verizon iPhone release. More recently, all the attention surrounding HTC Thunderbolt 4G has shifted to a Facebook page created by 'Verizon Wireless' - allegedly, which suggests that the device is scheduled for a grand release on 21st March, 2011. This Facebook page also has all the Thunderbolt specs enlisted on it alongside the features which make it stand apart. This page, however, has no information on HTC Thunderbolt price - which, according to the recent rumors, is $249 (contract price.)
