NFC MOBILES

NFC is expected to replace the laborious Bluetooth technology. As the existing Bluetooth technology involves lot of procedures before transferring data, meanwhile NFC technology will make the process very simple by activating the transfer process by a mere touch of the mobile phones.

Will NFC technology replace Bluetooth technology?

Both NFC and Bluetooth technology are short-range communication technologies. Contrastingly, NFC requires shorter set-up time when compared to the Bluetooth. Connection between two NFC devices will be established within one tenth of a second. It is more or less similar to the wireless technology. But, the data transfer rate is slow in NFC (424 kbit/s) when compared to Bluetooth (2.1 Mbit/s). NFC is highly suited for crowded areas where connectivity trough Bluetooth is much problematic. NFC uses RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) structures for such instances. You can even establish connection with the partner devices even in switched off condition (Contact-less smart cards etc.,).There is no doubt that this technology will outsmart the Bluetooth in future.

What's the mechanism behind NFC?

NFC technology uses RFID tags. It functions in the same way like the mechanism of a bar code scanner. RFID tags are nothing but small chips with built-in radios and wireless readers that picks up signal from the radios. So you can virtually transfer data between two successive NFC enabled devices. The first trial was done in Nokia 3220 cell phone. After that experiment, NFC technology was widely adopted by many cell phone giants.

The future for NFC:

With the advent of NFC technology, your phone could become your handy wallet abreast you can swap it like a credit card and can share information instantly. NFC will be much simple when compared to the Bluetooth and Wi- Fi technologies. It is even used by security guards in the UK military force to verify the identity of the persons. The usage of smart card has increased to a large extent in European countries. The usage of NFC with a PIN (Personal Identification Number) will lessen the counterfeit products. Another advantage of this NFC technology is its versatility. The technology is expected to be a major breakthrough in the field of science and technology. NFC is found to be successful in many applications and also the implementation of NFC is very cheap indeed. Already many mobile manufacturers have integrated this technology in their mobile gadgets. The technology is yet to gain the popularity among the people.
