Magnolia Pictures has acquired all world rights to Limelight, a documentary about legendary NYC nightclub owner Peter Gatien.
The movie, which makes its world premiere tonight at the Tribeca Film Festival, is slated for an August theatrical release.
Directed by Billy Corben and Alfred Spellman, Limelight explores Gatien’s rise to dominance of New York City nightlife in the 90s as owner of the legendary hotspots Limelight, Tunnel, Palladium and Club USA, and the drug crackdowns and police pressure in the Giuliani era that eventually led to his deportation to Canada.
