Soy Sauce Chicken Recipes

Recipe - I

Ingredients

    Soy sauce - 1 cup
    Chicken breasts - 3
    Sherry - 1 tablespoon
    Brown sugar - 1 cup
    Fresh ginger - 1 inch piece
    Star anise - 2
    Water - 1 cup

Take a pan and boil water in it, along with other ingredients, except chicken. Allow the mixture to boil once again, before covering the pan with a tight lid. Cook the chicken over medium heat for around five minutes. After five minutes, open the lid and turn over the chicken. Once again cover the pan and cook for another five minutes. After that, turn off the heat and allow the pan to sit covered for at least an hour. You can open the lid after an hour. Slice the chicken and serve with sauce and garnishing. You can use sliced green onions for garnishing.

Recipe - II

Ingredients

    Whole chicken - 1
    Soy sauce - ½ cup
    Garlic cloves - 3
    Star anise - 2
    Brown sugar - 3 tablespoons
    Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
    Chinese rice wine - ¼ cup
    Fresh ginger - 1 inch piece
    Water - ½ cup
    Five-spice powder - ½ teaspoon
    Chopped bird’s eye chili - 1 teaspoon
    Green onion - 1 stalk
    Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon

How to Prepare

Clean the chicken and cut into parts. Take a large pot and add the ingredients except chicken, sesame seeds and green onions. Place the pot over medium heat and allow the ingredients to combine well. Add the chicken pieces and cook them for around forty minutes, over medium heat. Make sure that the pot is covered with a tight lid, while cooking. You must also turn the chicken pieces in between. Once the chicken is done, remove these pieces from the pot. You may serve these chicken pieces with a small amount of sauce, in which they were cooked. You may also thicken the sauce with some cornstarch. Mix a teaspoon of cornstarch in two tablespoons of water and add it to the sauce. Gently heat the sauce, so as to thicken it. Now, pour some sauce over the chicken pieces and serve after garnishing with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. If you want to prepare soy sauce chicken wings, all you have to do is to use chicken wings instead of other chicken pieces.

Chicken with Soy Sauce Marinade

Ingredients

    Soy sauce - 1/3 cup
    Dark soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
    Brown sugar - 4 tablespoons
    Water - 1/3 cup
    Chinese rice wine - 3 tablespoons
    Green onions - 1½ stalks
    Garlic cloves - 2
    Sliced ginger - 1 tablespoon
    Chicken thighs - 4
    Shiitake mushrooms - 6
    Salt and ground pepper - as per taste
